Back to Sam's problem:
Sam, I would try using MME sound drivers selection inside RB's Prefs -> Audio and then start manually adjusting the Latency figure in the Latency timing block in an effort to see if I could find a setting that would allow for the amount of time needed for the disclavier to respond at the right time.
The method I would use is the old machinist's "Rule of Halves" at first, which is simple enough, pick a large latency time, say 500mS and play a MIDI file, while watching the onscreen piano keyboard highlight or the notation window note highlighting, in an effort to get an idea if that number is too fast, too slow, etc.
Dividing the figure in half and trying again, or if the thing seems to be working "the other way around" then try multiplying the original figure by two, shou;d be able to narrow it down to an area of time, from there on it would be a matter of lightly tweaking that number until onscreen display and disclavier are in sync.
Of course, this would only work with files that are addressing ONLY the diskclavier and not another MIDI synth, be that software or hardware type, as the newly found longer latency figure would likely throw those off in timing. But it could be a first step and perhaps after solving the disclavier problem there might be a workaround for using other MIDI sounds with it, perhaps. Solo disclavier would work fine then, though.
--Mac Mac, if I understand your post correctly it looks like you are trying to help me with the sync issues, which I had already solved by adding 500ms of latency to non-disklavier tracks. It synced perfectly, MIDI synth tracks playing back with live disklavier (keys moving up and down). The only answer i'd been asking about was making some type of template so I woukd not have to do this every time i loaded a song. I think rbarv may have addressed this here: Try changing the delay setting an a blank (New) file and then saving the file as $OPTIONS.seq RB and PT will load this when it opens, as the default, *if* it exists. It may save those settings for you.. Haven't tried it yet, but will report back. Now about the snark issue.... :-) _________________________ Make your sound your own!

Sam.... get a sense of humor. "chick magnet".... humor.... Unless you're a chick in which case "Samantha"... I could see how you might be upset over that humorous attempt on my part.... back to the topic at hand..... And pay close attention here....... I do understand what you're trying to do and I did offer you some advice about templates and saving them.
can we lighten up a bit.... a bit of humor and ..... really, I'm just trying to help.
Guitarhacker, it was not the "chick magnet" line that annoyed, but the suggestion that I ditch the disklavier and use a softsynth instead. I would think by this point in the thread you would understand that I am aware of the differences in using the two. I obviously want to use the Disklavier for purposes other than straight recording of a piano sound - and that would be difficult as I would have to mic the piano. No, i just like having the piano give "concerts" of my and other musicians' performances, some solo and some with other MIDI rhythm sections. For recording, I use synthogy ivory. Your responses in general, IMO, have seemed somewhat careless and unhelpful and seemed to have a bit of the snarky attitude that Mac picked up on as well. Re-read the thread and see if you don't agree. No big deal, i can get snarky online, especially late at night after a rough day. :-)

You can find my music at: www.herbhartley.comAdd nothing that adds nothing to the music. You can make excuses or you can make progress but not both. The magic you are looking for is in the work you are avoiding.

It may save those settings for you.. Rharv, I tried this, this would work when recording a song from scratch but not when loading a multiple track MIDI file already recorded. Perhaps IMPORTING tracks into this template would work, but so far I've had no luck as it seems to import all tracks onto one track. Maybe someone can shed some light on how importing works...

Try File - Load Scrap instead of import.
Or if it imports to one track (meaning it is type 0 .mid file) use Track - extract channels to tracks. Then save it as a type 1 .mid file for later use.
I do not work here, but the benefits are still awesome Make your sound your own!
