I agree with Noel. It doesn't need an Internet connection to be activated, and in line with doing a sensible job to avoid software piracy, PG music have introduced a very reasonable license management policy.

How lucky are we that they didn't want to go down the dongle path (Whew!)

Try it for yourself, disconnect your BiaB computer from the network. Register it from a separate computer if you wish, from anywhere in fact. Your BiaB will keep running, no Internet connection required. Spyware? I doubt it.
