I create a Midi Track in RealBand, and assign Coyote WT as the Synth.
In Notation View I can enter a new note, drag it up/down, and hear the note event play as it is adjusted.
However, in Piano Roll view, the same note does not produce any sound if it is clicked or moved.
This only seems to happen if Coyote WT is the selected Synth.
Can anyone else confirm if this is 'expected behavior' or 'operational issue'?
Thanks
Trevor

The exact problem I found ! NO SOUND all other midi editors have sound, it is a bugger when you are doing drums also. I was going to put it in the "Demand List" but I'm so tied of asking for things that are just standard in other DAWs so I said why bother. They have it now so when you click a key it highlights all the notes in that key but you can just use Ctrl+click or something for that. It is great to have someone else who see these problems and it's not just me lol.
Yes, I actually found it trying to use midi drums, and thought it was related to drums only, but then with a bit of exploration I found it occurs on any bank. I also thought it might be related to having external midi hardware connected, but have managed to discount those options, and reproduced on more than one system.
I don't think it should be in the Wish List, I think it should be in the Problems List (aka bug list).

I sent Support a detailed note demonstrating these findings
Hopefully they can resolve.

I have had acknowledgement from PG Music that they can identify the issue. It might somehow be related to ASIO/MME drivers, but they have indicated that they recognized an inconsistency.
Fix in Next patch? Let's hope

It always has required the use of ASIO drivers for this to work
John, thanks. The inconsistency is that changing the note in Notation view works perfectly with MME, but changing the note in Piano Roll view doesn't. So this proves that MME can work, but doesn't.

Notation feature has been around since before RB, likely PT 4-5 or so (from memory). It has been largely unchanged since it was implemented.
Piano Roll allows different options and (IIRC) came to fruition later, so the fact that they are different doesn't surprise me.
My gut tells me Notation was a third party add-on/acquisition since it hasn't changed in so long. There have been many requests for improvements over the years.
Not that I don't think PGMusic *could* improve it, I suspect licensing restricts them from doing so. Not speaking for PGMusic, just a hunch. So I've adapted to it. Use the tool that works for what you need.
I do not work here, but the benefits are still awesome Make your sound your own!
Thanks ST & Rharv, the ASIO I have is Tascam US1800 & Phonic they are 18 channel that I just use for recording, so they are not plugged in all the time just to do RB, ASIO4All is mostly unavailable because of the Microsoft GS WT Synth but I found one ASIO DirectX Full Duplex and it works and gives me the sound in Piano Roll as well as VSTi.
I do recall an obscure support post referencing Microsoft GS WT Synth needing to be selected as the default synth (even/especially if redirecting MIDI to different default DXi/VSTi synth) but don't have a link.
Worth trying .. seems it defaults to these settings for many users, meaning the change/fix is rarely needed but worth noting.
