Personally I export my sketches to Cubase, as single tracks without FX. This gives me a lot of freedom to cut up, fade, move around and hide certain touchy areas, most of the time I export more "takes" of an instrument than I actually need so the chance of finding useful bits to transplant increases - but this takes quite some time and I'd rather not have to edit the sketches and get on with the creative part.
Call me crazy, but a badly executed stop or the occasional bum note in a rhythm section chord messes with my concentration and creativity, just like it does on stage.

I guess you could just as well use RealBand for edits, but Cubase has become second nature for me, and that's where the song will evolve further anyway, ymmv.
