BB uses a synth to play it's parts, including the metro-sound. TTS or Coyote... or sometimes another basic GM synth. That is usually the issue.

Increase your MIDI buffers and experiment with the latency settings to see if that solves the issue.

Most factory sound cards use MME as their driver and MME is not generally set up for the stuff we do. Tweaking the settings is often necessary.

Sometimes using ASIO4ALL, a free downloadable wrapper, will work OK.

Quite a few people, after determining that this is something we will be doing on a long term basis, writing songs or whatever, have made the investment into a 3rd party external sound card, also called an Interface. These interfaces use the much better ASIO drivers, are easy to set up, and solve all the major problems associated with the factory sound cards and MME drivers.

I've been using a Focusrite interface without problems for as long as I've been into home recording. It just plain works. No latency, no clicks and pops, and no audio engine drops.
