Tracking vocal or guitar with real time effect monitoring may not be intuitive if you are coming from a standard DAW.
You have to have your plug-ins loaded in two places - the track insert AND the input monitor insert. The latter can be found if you scroll ALL THE WAY DOWN in the insert drop down box. You can access this from each track's fx button.
This also means that you have to set the adjustments identically on both instances. This can be saved as a group setting once you have it set and then loaded into the other instance to save some time.
You must also have an ASIO sound device and have input monitoring selected in the Audio tab of the options menus.
ASIDE: I am using M-Audio MobilePre with ASIO-4-All as the M-Audio driver does not work for some reason. This coexists with the Coyote MIDI driver.
