This is perhaps better suited to a "wishful thinking" list than a wishlist...
but the thought occurs to me that music has always been limited by the resources available to make it. When the only instruments were logs, people smacked them with sticks.
In the years since logs, music has gone through stages and trends, and it amazes me that even with all the current music-making technology, I hear very little contemporary music that is even as good as the music of the past, let alone better.
My hope is that technology will bring about a return of classical and big band music. When else in history have so many people had tools at their disposal to accurately reproduce the sounds of an entire symphony?
wish list: PGMusic offers the one music making suite that still embraces music as an art, not just as a trend. Please consider future developments that are oriented toward creating full-blown symphonic projects.

The thread on Danny Elfman is what got me thinking about this. I spent the day on youtube listening to his various movie scores. I noticed there are cliches that tend to get used when you need to build tension, or create a mood of heroism, love, action, mystery etc. Such cliches lend themselves to STYLES, which happen to be a forte of this product. Also, such scores tend to be MIDI based (at least in the composing development stage), and MIDI SUPERTRACKS are the perfect way to provide a collection of excellent commonly used orchestral themes/building blocks that can be mixed and matched into an ever-increasing number of original compositions I already want to buy the BIAB orchestral wizard. Now I just have to wait until it exists.

OK, now I'm starting to understand this request.
Six months ago, I performed four of my songs that I scored for a 60-piece symphony orchestra and jazz soloists. To do this required several programs, including BIAB. I would have loved to stay within BIAB for more of the project.

And a great performance it was, Matt!
If BIAB were to do better support orchestral scoring, I think the notation aspect would have to be enhanced significantly, and probably more than 16 MIDI channels would be required.

I recently attended a Dianna Krall concert. As well as her backing group of Drums, Guitar and Bass, her performance was augmented by a 30+ piece Symphony Orchestra. You better believe that this embellishment made for a seriously sensational concert.
And of course we all realize that Symphony Orchestras are never restricted to their origins of classical music.
John's observation about 16 channel limitations is worth noting, and would be restrictive. However, that would only be 16 channels per MIDI 'device', and is there no reason we could not deploy multiple devices?
A big +1 from me for more orchestral features!

Why, thank you again John. It was great having you and your wife there. My notation software gives me two banks of sixteen. That might be the first step in BIAB to allow for more instruments. For others who don't know, BIAB makes pretty good use of the sixteen that are there, notably using several for harmony.

A big + for more classical oriented styles. I love the new classical string quartet and I hope this first step will be followed by a 2014.5 version of the old classical midi-styles or maybe even more classical realtracks..........

I have some rudimentary recordings both audio and video, and it's on my list to combine them. There were quite a few times where the orchestra couldn't keep up but overall it came off well. I'll let you know if I get an acceptable file to post. Thanks.

Yes ..... Great to have more Classical. +1 from me.
Instruments and midi supertracks.
I also would love to spend more time within BB but until the developers go down the x64 bit road I have to exit and carry on my projects in x64 bit DAW's.
:-)

These are good ideas. I would like to use BIAB to write classical symphonies. I used BIAB as a DAV Plugin for that from time to time.
For classical music or BigBand Music there should be at least the ability to use 16 Channels of Midi with 16 BIAB tracks.
Also there could be a timeline window like it is in usual sequencers like Cubase or Sonar. There should be a possibility to change an every track on the timeline, if the instrument plays something or not at any bar. Because normally an instrument in BIAB always plays during the hole song. This is not usual in classical music and even in orchestral Bigband or MArchig Band music. For instance in a symphony, there is normally no soloist and some instruments (maybe violins) play at a certain bar and then do not play for 8 bars maybe, because some other instrumenta (likw horn section or Timpani or even harpsichord) play something during that time.
So this would be a really good feature.

I also think about a freeze funcion for every bar on every track in this timeline window I mentioned below
