Yes, in theory no proprietary device drivers should be required. But the Win2K implementation of usbaudio is shall we say a bit weak. I'll do some more digging and for grins try another old system I have with Win2K on it. I don't have any webcam drivers installed on the problematic machine, but there are a couple of other things installed that do use USB. Hmmm.. now that I think of it one of them is for a Logitech universal remote control. I'll try removing that USB driver although it would be less likely that one would interact with the usbaudio class driver.

The SD4 operates fine under Linux, and I have reports that it does work with Windows XP, so if I need to I'll retire the Win2K box and replace it with a Windows XP system.
