The ath-m45 headphones remind me of the ATH-M40fs that I got a year and a half ago, but traded them for a pair of M50's. They are "thin", but this time I am keeping them. They might be more designed for mixing -- I just have to get use to them. They a lighter and looser than the M50's so a little more comfortable.

I would say for the price they are good, but if they were full price, the 40fs might be a better deal. It is hard to say without a direct a/b comparison.
