Hi Roy, also, if you use a BIB midi file, all you have to do is go to the mixer window and right click on the melody instrument and on the menu that pops up go to the select midi patch and pick a different instrument. Then save that song with patches and harmonies, etc. That change should "stick". Hope this help.
