Someone gave me an old Yamaha PSR 172. The thing has got to be 20 years old. There is no USB port, although there is a midi in and out jack also a sustain pedal jack. I know this keyboard is obsolete, however, the grand piano effect sounds amazingly realistic through an amp or headphones, and it has 61 keys as opposed to my Oxygen 25 key controller. I thought I might be able to use this dinosaur just for that piano effect if nothing else. Well, that and the extra 36 keys

I’m wondering if there is any way to run this old keyboard through my controller to my laptop. Perhaps from the midi out jack on the Yamaha into the midi in on my Oxygen then from the controller into my laptop with the USB cable.

Other than RB and BIAB, I’m also using Studio 1-2 Artist with the ProSonus Audobox and Audacity for editing. Thought I’d float this by the forum before wasting money on XLR cables and possibly messing up what I have finally got working. I just love the sound of that piano.

Guess I could just play live and mic the amp, or just plug the Yamaha directly into the AudioBox as an instrument. This may be the only way to get the Grand Piano sound into any of my DAWs. I'm just trying to prevent any driver issues or conflicts between the two keyboards.

Any other suggestions appreciated.
