Hi,

As part of setting up my new Ketron SD4 sound module I upgraded my old MIDI machine to a faster box with Windows XP Pro. Everything is working great, expect when I record an audio track there is a "pop" at the very start of all tracks. I can edit it out, but it is annoying.

Previously I was using a Roland XV-2020 MIDI sound module on the old computer. In both cases just using the on board PC sound "card" for recording. With the old computer I was using Powertracks V9, but with the new system I'm using RealBand 2008.5 latest build.

So a number of things have changed:

Motherboard / On board sound "card" (Old Shuttle micro-ATX mother board vs MSI VIA based mother board in new system)
MIDI sound module (Roland vs SD4 in new system)
Recording software (PowerTracks V9 vs RealBand 2008.5 in new system)

Has anyone run into a similar problem? I add an audio track to the the MIDI and record the output from the PA going to Line In on the PC. Levels are good, no clipping, no noise, etc. The recording itself sounds very good, better with the new system than it did on the old.

If it didn't have the initial "pop" then it would be perfect, but as mentioned every before it is on every recording done so far.

I'm pretty sure it is NOT the SD4, but I will try eliminating it by just doing a recording with no MIDI in the picture.

And for good measure I'll try recording with the standard M$oft recorder that is part of windoze so I guess those two steps will help to isolate the problem.

At the end of the day if I have to edit the recorded files to remove the pop I will, but if it turns out to be the on board sound "card" does anyone have recommendations for a decent replacement sound card that you have had good experiences with?

Thanks,
Burt
