I have seen more and more people using the iPad for live performance.
Does BIAB work well with iPads?
I am trying to cut down on the amount of gear I have to lug around to restaurants. I thought of buying the Apogee unit to hook my guitar up to my iPad and have this be my work flow

No. You have to use your laptop or tablet PC on the gig. The thing about that is do you care about changing the structure of songs on the fly or are you planning on just playing tunes from beginning to end? If you want to change things up live look at the Conductor feature. If you're going to play or sing along with Biab like a karaoke track then use Biab to create prerecorded wav or MP3 files. You can then create setlists and play those back using your iPad and leave Biab at home.

I just want the prerecorded songs and don't want to have to carry around a bunch of gear is all
Sounds like maybe I can download the tunes and then create and mp3 and put them on my iPod

Absolutely, that is by far the easiest way to do it. I'm not an ios guy but I understand that Garageband is a multitrack program, you can load a multitrack Biab project into GB and then control individual track volumes and EQ with the onscreen controls on your iPad. That's great for tweaking your sound to suit the acoustics of different venues.

I use a program called Studiotrack and actually set two blank tracks up for myself and run everything through my ipad. - including my vocals and guitar. I create tracks in BIAB, render them to wav and move them to Studiotrack. In Studiotrack I can also EQ and add some effects for vocal and guitar for live play.
