I think you're right that line based lyrics will not be transferred with MIDI. The chords are not carried either.
But how do we see the chords from a karaoke file? If you open up a Karaoke file (.kar) in BIAB, the chords are there. Very odd, and BIAB can interpret them and use them. You can also rename a .kar file to a .mid and get exactly the same results.
PGMusic has always said that the chord letter is not a midi event and so is not part of what BIAB creates. But obviously someone creates Midi and Karaoke files with the chord letters. Why can't BIAB?
