I was using BIAB on my laptop using my external keyboard to provide the bass part from BIAB. All tested well at home but at a gig last night, something happened and I could not resolve it. The bass part always played using a piano patch rather than acoustic bass as it should have. I tried resetting the keyboard, closed down BIAB, re-install driver for my Midisport Uno - all with no luck. I ended up having to use SampleTank for the bass part.
I haven't tried a BIAB factory reset yet as I'm hoping to figure out what happened. Any idea what could cause this?

Hi Rachael,
Afraid I can't help with your midi incident last night.
But on a related point: some months ago, you kindly alerted me to Sonivox for a decently-priced string-bass synth. The ST N & T basses are rather good I find, and I now use them as much as Sonivox. The N blends in very well with Neil Swainson RTs, I find.
(And - I'm cautious about saying this out loud - all respect to those who use BIAB live, rather than rendering first..... How you handle re-sets etc during a gig, I just can't imagine!)

MIDI routing in BiaB?
Did you default synth change?
Did the send channel on the hardware synth change (sending on 1 instead of 2 or whatever)
Record a little and see what channel it is on.
Are you playing an a selected track and it has program change at the beginning?
Many possible causes.

Thanks all for the reply.
Default synth was Uno Midi-Sport in/out. I don't usually set BIAB to use midi in but this time wanted to control BIAB from the external kb. First time I tried this and am wondering if something happened here. It did work at home just fine though.
All of the songs used the default bass channel with no special patches.
The receive channel on the synth was at the default of 1. I changed it to 2 and set the synth to bass and it worked.
The whole thing is a mystery. It seems like something happened when I powered down the laptop for transport to the gig.

Are you saying you have since "changed it to 2 and set the synth to bass and it worked." At the gig, I was trying anything to get it to work. At one point, I changed the system channel on my synth from 1 to 2 and manually changed the instrument on the synth to bass and it worked. I never had to do this before though. Not sure this was the right thing to do, I just used SampleTank for the rest of the gig. Thanks
