Surely there is some way the artists can band together and create a musical outlet controlled by the artists, with no middle men to siphon off most of the proceeds... Band together how? I don't think it's easy or cheap to set up formal business relationships with iTunes, Amazon etc. Not to mention securing a domain name, setting up and maintaining a website, advertising, banking, all that fun stuff that costs real money up front.
