Hi Greg...

I used to watch his shoe on TV back in the middle 1970's when I lived in San Antonio, TX. In my mind's eye, he was an OK singer but a much more talented lyricist. I watched the show, primarily, for the ten minute segment at the end where he asked audience members to give him a subject line and he would extemporaneously write a partial lyric and simple melody. he was very gifted with that ability.

I'd never heard the story you referred to but I can easily believe it. I did enjoy your story - thanks! I love hearing about these inside happenings relating to the evolution of a song - like the "Scrambled Eggs" and "Yesterday" story. Won't repeat it unless someone asks as it is widely known.
