Not only do I love the new Mac 2014 versions GUI, I also love the loading time.
On my Mac Mini it loads in about 5 seconds.
In comparison, the same version on my very powerful HP Z820 (2-2687 CPUs , 64 GB ram) takes about 55 seconds. This seems consistent with other folks experience as well.
So I am sure glad to be once again running BIAB on a Mac!

I read this post because, as you probably know, there was an interesting thread about the start times for BIAB on the PC. That's great news about your Mac version loading so quickly.
55 seconds seems way too high for your PC, though. If I recall correctly, some users had success lowering the times by excluding the /bb folder or at least BBW.EXE from their malware scanners. You might want to search for the thread and revisit any other tips there to see if you could improve things.
For other Mac users reading this thread, 55 seconds is not the norm for a PC. On my old Core II Duo, I get about six seconds. Admittedly, the main improvement occurred when I installed an SSD as my boot drive. Other users with better PCs than mine but regular hard drives report times more typically in the 7 - 12 second range, if I recall correctly, with the occasional cold start taking sometimes much longer but not consistently as long as yours.

Agreed, BiaB 2014 is a great upgrade ! The new UI really helps speed up the workflow. In fact, on some previous Mac versions the launch was so quick you couldn't even read the splash screen. I was wondering if possibly your longer loading times might have to do with VST support on the PC side. I know some programs scan your VST folder for new plugins on each launch. I am unfamiliar with the PC version of BiaB, but does it scan the VST folder when you launch it ? - Jay

This time (55 sec,) is for the cold start on the PC. After that it is stored in a cache so of course subsequent boot ups take about 6 sec. But the Mac cold start only takes 5 sec, And subsequent boot ups take about 2 seconds. FYI, my PC is not by default connected to the web and I have no malware scanners.

Yes, the loading time on the Mac is very fast. And 5 seconds on a fast Mac is typical. The Windows version is slower than that. I'm not sure why but am looking into that
You can see your boot up time by menu help - show log and then look for the boot up time logs.
Have Fun! Peter Gannon PG Music Inc.

Once the Mac version came out I stopped using it on the PC. All my other music related software is on the Mac so its nice to have everything in one place.
