55 seconds seems way too high for your PC, though. If I recall correctly, some users had success lowering the times by excluding the /bb folder or at least BBW.EXE from their malware scanners. You might want to search for the thread and revisit any other tips there to see if you could improve things.

For other Mac users reading this thread, 55 seconds is not the norm for a PC. On my old Core II Duo, I get about six seconds. Admittedly, the main improvement occurred when I installed an SSD as my boot drive. Other users with better PCs than mine but regular hard drives report times more typically in the 7 - 12 second range, if I recall correctly, with the occasional cold start taking sometimes much longer but not consistently as long as yours.


This time (55 sec,) is for the cold start on the PC. After that it is stored in a cache so of course subsequent boot ups take about 6 sec.

But the Mac cold start only takes 5 sec, And subsequent boot ups take about 2 seconds.

FYI, my PC is not by default connected to the web and I have no malware scanners. smile
