I recently had been having increasing difficulty reading in low light conditions on stage. My ophthalmologist and I decided it was time to have cataract surgery. The options that I was presented with were (1) standard cataract surgery which would be paid in full by Blue Cross after my $150 co pay, (2) laser surgery to correct my far vision + astigmatism at a cost of $1,650 per eye out-of-pocket and (3) laser surgery to correct as for option 2 + correct for near vision with accommodation at a cost of $3,150 per eye out-of-pocket.

I opted for option 3 and the results have been amazing. I had my eyes checked this past Thursday and have 20/20 vision in both eyes and can read close up without reading glasses. Not bad for a 63 year old that had been wearing glasses and/or contacts since age 10. I wish I could have had something like this done years ago. This is actually one of my best gear acquisitions ever. :-)
