Johnny and his brother Edgar are great blues players. He'll be missed.

I remember seeing him back in Philly at the Spectrum I'm guessing it was 1972 or 73. Cost $3 to get in.

Other bands on the show that evening were Foghat just recently formed from Savoy Brown and topping the charts with "I just wanna make love to you" and hitting "Louisiana Blues" from the old Savoy days.... They were the opening act....

Next was Poco. Those cats were hot but they walked off stage after the 3rd song because some fool threw firecrackers onto the stage and into the audience in front of the stage injuring someone.

Johnny Winter was the headliner and to make up for Poco walking off and refusing to come on again, he came out and played a longer set. He cussed the idiot with the firecrackers out and then played. Rick Derringer was on guitar that night with him. What a great performance hi gave that night.
