I am aware that I can add blank bars in the chord section of RB in the place where I want to add a chorus. I am not clear on how I might copy and entire 8 track region and paste it into the newly created slot. I could redoux the whole song, but wanted to learn how to cut/paste sections. I can kinda' use the wonky touch pad on my laptop to select a section to copy, but that is very clunky. Is there a function within the program to just specify bars to copy/paste to a new location in the song?

Later... I did discover how to do this using the copy/paste tools at the top of the window. I also needed to use an external mouse to get a bit better control. I sort of got things happening, but it came out a mess. Perhaps I need to study the punch in tool. Can you tell I am a little lost? No worries! Heh.

Try using the 'Bars' window, it's a good starting point for basic copy/paste.
There are also some keyboard shortcuts that help; highlight the first track and then either hold CTRL while clicking the other tracks .. or hold Shift while clicking the last track to select them all.
Punch In shouldn't be needed for copy/paste functions.
Highlight the eight bars, then make sure you have all the tracks selected that you want to copy. Then use CTRL + 'C' to Copy (or use the Copy icon at top). Positin the cursor where you want to Paste it and hit CTRL + 'V' to paste (or use the Paste icon at top).
Once you get to the Paste window pay attention to the options: you can create the space needed for the tracks you are pasting (Create Gap), or you can overwrite what is there.
This should be very easy in RB, once you get the hang of it.
I do not work here, but the benefits are still awesome Make your sound your own!

When you copy/paste pay attention to the time clock. You want to make sure the click count on your Paste action matches the on from your Copy.
Example: If you copy from 2-1-12 Thru whatever, make sure you Paste it at X-1-12 so everything lines up.
If you are going to use the Repetitions option (paste the same thing multiple times in a row) make sure you get a whole measure section so it pastes correctly on the 2nd 3rd 4th iteration.
Example Copy 2-1-0 thru 12-4-119 (if resolution is 120) so that when it pastes multiple times it all lines up. By this I mean the next iteration starts where the first one ends. So if you copy X amount of bars and three beats of data, the 2nd iteration will be a beat early, the 3rd will be 2 beats early .. etc Copy full measure increments to make it work right. Some people use the Bars window for this since it selects full bars, however it is also OK to copy from beat 2 of a measure as long as you end the copy at the tick that makes a full measure. Example You can copy 2-2-14 thru 12-2-13 (which should then be pasted at X-2-14)...

It all makes sense once you think about it.
Sometimes you have to pay attention to some settings/popups in RB, which can seem confusing .. BUT it is in these aspects that RB offers a lot of options/freedom.
By paying attention to timeline settings you can regenerate only a defined portion of a track; very powerful!

For quicker edits without a mouse, at the top of the rb window there is a box to type in the exact to and from points you want highligted to copy, or if you want to regenerate what I call the Wild Thing Players (that is that instrument part that is playing along so perfectly and then all of a sudden decides to go rogue with some bit of playing that makes absolutely no since whatsoever; this was helped by the force track to simple arrangement, but ever once in a while you still have an instrument that tries to be the star of the show.) you can then either cut them or copy and paste at a later time. Hope this helps
