Well, that's interesting.

Following floyd jane's advice, I put in another track, using RT 1426 on Strings. (The 900 was on Guitar.) I set all the rests in the song to ".g", e.g., "C.g", "Em.g", etc., so they would only play the Guitar track.

Then I set the two bars that I wanted to hold as "G/B...g" and "F...g", using the menus so I'd make sure that the Guitar track (900) was excluded and the Strings track (1426) would play a held chord.

Remember that I mentioned a bass run in the original post? Well, the last part of that, now "G/Bb.g", played a stopped chord just before the G/B.g, which at least did play correctly.

And the "F...g" played normally.

Finally saying Fuggit, I went back to my original arrangement, and just substituted 1426 for 900, and it works fine. Doesn't sound quite the same, not quite what I want, but close enough. Annoying, though.
