I'm one of those people that buys gear and keeps it until it breaks - hence my previous dust cover discussion. But in that thread, I've learned that it is much more common for humidity to cause electronic boxes to malfunction.
Has anyone attributed their older electronics gear to have been 'compromised' by the effects of humidity over the years, and if so -
- on what type of equipment
- what were the symptoms
- were you able to do the repair yourself ?

Maybe 20 or more years I had a VCR located near a window. It had a sensor that would shut the unit off because of humidity. Similar to a circuit breaker.

Neither has to be an issue. Electronic equipment designed and built to military specs is used reliably in some of the harshest environments in the world.
If you have your studio in a room that is mostly dedicated for studio use and can be closed off, dehumidfier and hepa filter units are reasonable in cost and will help with humidity and dust control. Adhering to a stringent maintenance schedule will also extend the life of your equipment.
There are many bands that play right out on the beach where there is always wind blowing, sea mist, sand, and high humidity and they are still using equipment they have used in these conditions for years. Your indoor studio equipment will not likely ever see such abuse as their equipment. It's all about protecting your equipment and servicing/cleaning on a regular basis.
The same is true for photographers and videographers. They carry equipment worth thousands of dollars out on the beachfront all the time. They simply know their equipment and how to service/clean it and do so diligently.

For me 90-100% humidity is the norm. Band equipment being used outdoors, and even worse at the beach, will have tons of rust and worse. It may still work, but it will be ugly to the max. A cost of doing business on the beach I am afraid. I think if it still looks good, you should be alright. You will be rolling the dice on any cheap ugly stuff.
In my studio and in most studios I have been in, the equipment is always left on 24/7. It stays warm all the time and that helps to cut the humidity. Tape recorders, (Remember them?)will die quickly out in the humidity like being stored in a garage. All my master tapes have ruined in closets in my house. At least I was one of the first people in my area to buy a DAT recorder and then ASAP backed that up to hard drives. Real studios clean after every session and most of their stuff is near mint.

I too live in Florida, near the Atlantic Ocean - so humidity is a part of life.
Plus I do not run the air conditioner in my home. I grew up in Florida without AC and never acquired a taste for it.
I think a problem could be dust covers, which will trap humid air inside with the temperature changes, causing condensation. IMPORTANT: I missed your post about dust covers, so if this doesn't apply to you, please accept my apology.
I do not play outdoors within about a quarter mile from the ocean. Not for the humidity, but for the salt spray. And I do have a gig in a marina on a dock over a salt water lagoon. It's a weekly afternoon gig from October through June or July (whenever the rainy season starts). The only problem I have there is the guitar strings rust sooner, and I have to keep the cable jacks clean.

I live on a freshwater lake in the Adirondacks and have had no problem with electronics caused by humidity (or extreme temperature changes from -30 to +100). However, I have to be aware of mildew that may occur on speaker cabinets and similar cloth after doing an outdoor gig.
