+1 XML'ability

I don't care if native within BIAB/RB, or

if PG partners with 3rd party, or does it in-house, to build a utility - external from but interfaces (only) with BIAB/RB to convert and export (with batch capability), or

if PG builds a commercial add-on conversion product for sale to convert .MID, .*g*, .seq, ..PDF's, etc. to .xml,, or...

Bottomline - I wish for it and I describe desired OUTCOME: BIAB filexyz.*g* (.mdi, .seq) into filexyz.XML but, and I'm not saying anyone has, I don't then try to direct PG "HOW TO."

Frankly, the whole "it's the 21st century" and similar rants are non-productive and boring.

Also anyone who says "it's easy" or "just a few lines of code" have NEVER done design & production programming that actually puts food on the table.

Good points, Larry. I have observed over the decades that it is often more productive to describe what we would like to see, but let PG Music figure out how to accomplish it, if they can.

This issue is a bit different from many others, in that we are all pretty clear on what we want to see. We also have a step in the right direction, in that BIAB does output limited Music XML. That language is, for the most part, a standard. As a programming professor, I fully agree with you that, even if everything is perfectly clear, it's still not easy to code.

One quick clarification, if I may. You can remove MIDI from your list. Just about all music software reads MIDI. The central problem is that the MIDI standard does not include chord data. That's why we are looking at other ways to get a BIAB song, with chords, into dedicated music notation software.

At least, I think it's clear.

Hi everyone,

I know this thread is old, but I'm interested in the files that robvh mentioned and it seems that they have been removed from sugarsync. Are they available elsewhere?

Thanks in advance,

Valinggir

Your best bet is to directly contact the owner of the files, robvh. Right click on his name and a sub menu appears; one of the selections is: send pm which means you can send him a private message with your request.
