Hi there - Ive watch loads of the video tutorials. Im trying to load an old tape cassete recording waves file
in band in a box 2014 so I can detect the tempo and chords etc. What would be the best way to do this please?

Select 'audio' from the options across the top of the screen. Select 'import audio'
Navigate to the audio file you want to use, select it and it will populate the audio track.
Audio track is hidden in the normal window. Select the 'audio' button on the far right just below the tracks window and the audio track will be visible.
The same can be done in Realband which is included with BiaB 2014 and the import and audio chord wizard is easier. Plus you will have a total of 48 tracks available for midi or audio. It will populate the chord chart the same as BiaB and you will still have access to many of the BiaB features.
Realband is better suited for the task you are attempting in my opinion.

In order to get the wave files into the computer, you will first have to hook up a cassette player's output, to the input of the soundcard on your computer. Then play the cassette tape while recording the output into a computer program (like RealBand or Audacity).
Then open BIAB and (as Charlie indicated above) use File > "Open audio with chords". That will open BIAB Audio Chord Wizard and go from there.
If this info is too general, give us more specifics on your cassette setup and someone will be able to help you.

Hi Guys! Thanks for the info. I should have mentioned ive already got the old band recordings on my computer now as a wav. The audio quality is terrible so im not sure how good a job band in a box or realband will do. Will I need to beat slice each bar? We as a band played live and not to a metronome. Cheers for the instructions I will try that now!

If you haven't tried our previous "instructions" in this thread yet, here's some further info:
- Now that we know you already have the wav files on your computer, the next step is to load each file individually into BIAB to (as you said) "beat slice each bar". You do that in the BIAB's ACW (Audio Chord Wizard).
- Before you start that though, I would suggest doing this: go to the PG Music "Support" page, scroll down to and click on "Videos", then scroll down to and, under "Advanced" (don't be intimidated by that), click on "Using the Audio Chord Wizard" and watch the video.
- That will give you great insight into how you can set the Bar lines to create a custom tempo map (note especially the section near the end, on "Making a tempo map" - you'll want to do that at the end).
- The ACW can also be set to "guess" the chords for the song. This part is "hit and miss" so if you already KNOW what the chords are, you can change what the ACW suggests, and just enter your own.
