I´m writing a melody with the mouse in the editable notation window, but I can´t hear the notes WHILE I´m writing. Does anybody know how to do this ? Thank you !

A couple of thoughts spring to mind ...
1. Check that the volume for the Melody track is set to full.
2. Check that the Melody track is not muted.

3. You might have to have it set to ASIO, in Realband you need to. I think you have "ASIO" down your way Noel. ASIO Home Page

Changing the driver mode usually won't help.
In Sonar, if the synth is properly set up, you can hear the notes as you click the mouse on the musical staff. I have never used this method in BB/RB since I work exclusively with audio in these programs. Attempting to play a melody with a mouse in real time is a huge challenge that most people are not capable of doing well.
I have used this method for writing both musical parts and drum parts in years past and even in a fully capable DAW like Sonar, this can not be done successfully using a mouse to play in real time. The timing of the notes will not even be close to accurate. The only option is to set the DAW to loop over a several measure section, and use the mouse to add and edit the notes. Each time it loops, adjust the notes with the mouse until you have the part correct. Stop and start playback as needed in this process.
The best way I know that allows you to hear the notes as you are writing them in real time is to have the DAW in record mode and be using a MUSICAL KEYBOARD sending the notes in as midi as the project is playing. Essentially, you are playing along with the music playback and the notes you play are being recorded as midi.

Thanks, Guitarhacker ! I use BB for writing arrangements, and in a former version I could hear the notes I was writing with the mouse, never in real time. I still haven´t found the way in BB 2014.

Hi again, DT. I use the MME driver in Band In A Box when entering notes and it works for me. Here's something else that is worth checking ... 1. Enter Notation Mode 2. Click on "Opt" found on the upper left corner of the staves.  3. Now select "More" (#1 on the image below), activate "Play inserted notes" (#2) and then exit using "OK" (#3)  Hope this will do the job for you. Regards, Noel

You shouldn't need to have ASIO to get what you're after.
Mine works fine with MME.
- Which version of BIAB are you using? (I'll assume 2014)
- I'll also assume that you can hear an existing song when you play it, and that, after you enter notes in Editable Notation, they will sound OK when you hit the play button
- Go to Opt > Midi/Audio driver set up
- Under "Midi Output Driver", see if you have a MS GS Wavetable and select that
- I also have enabled: Use VSTi/DXi Synth, Route MIDI thru to MIDI driver and have selected "VSTi/DXi Synth Setting (Coyote W/T)"
Let us know if you already set things up for ASIO and got it working.

Hearing the notes as you click them is a function of the softsynth.
