Just curious: When I click 'memo' on the leadsheet screen, the memo window opens with a width that exceeds the monitor. (I have a dual monitor system, so the window extends to the second monitor.) There are no handles to drag to make the memo smaller.

This is a petty annoyance, but I wonder if anyone has experienced this _and_ has a solution to make this window permanently smaller?

Thanks,

Bob

PS: The same sized window also appears in the leadsheet, print, print preview window, but in this case the window has draggable handles to resize. And, I still don't like that it opens 'oversized'.

Bob:

The annoyance must have to do with your dual monitor system.
I tried the Memo button on the Leadsheet window here, on 3 different computers, running 3 different O/S's and 3 different sized monitors.

They all displayed across the entire screen but didn't "exceed the monitor".

It is strange though, not to have that resizing capability.
Maybe an item for the Wish List.

Good luck!

Funny my memo screen can be resized. I go Edit/Song Memo. The size of the memo screen is saved when BIAB closes, try resizing it then closing and opening.

More of my curiosity: Did you try to click the "memo" button directly on the leadsheet display? The memo window that comes up is different depending on which of the two you use.

Hi Bob,

On my system (Vista 32 bit), whichever path I take to open the memo dialogue, the result is the same. The memo window occupies about 1/3 of the screen in the centre. It's also resizable.

As far as I'm aware, there are no resizing handles in BIAB. To resize the memo window, simply hover the mouse over one the edges of the window and it will change to "resizing" mode (a double-headed arrow). When this happens, click and hold the left mouse button down and drag the edge to a new size. (See image below.)

If the resized window is placed in a awkward spot on the screen, left-click on the window's top bar, hold the mouse button down and drag the window to a new position on the screen.

Hope this helps,
Noel

Noel:

I don't think he's talking about the "Song Memo" window.
Click on the green "Lead Sheet" icon, then on the "Memo" button there.

The window that opens says (in the top LH corner), "Lead Sheet Memo ...". I get no sizing handles on that one.

The window you show in your screen shot is a different one.

Thanks!

Thanks Lloyd S. Yes, you are correct: I am talking about the leadsheet memo window. I have no issues with the 'other' memo window.

Hi Lloyd,

Thank you. I have never used the Memo button in leadsheet view. Live and learn! I now see the difference. The leadsheet Memo occupies all my screen and is not resizable. The display also seems to be independent of screen resolution setting.

Regards,
Noel

P.S. I note that Bob did mention the Leadsheet memo in his original post. I just didn't register that information in my brain!

One thought if I may interject. Windows can handle dual monitors two different ways. Method A the monitors are true dual monitors where the two screens can show two different desktops just as though the monitors were attached to two computers. Method B the monitors are treated as two sides (normally left and right) of the same desktop. Typically if you are using dual monitors method b is the default. If that is the case here, the computer doesn't realize the memo screen has extended to the second screen.

I realize that doesn't change the if or how to resize but it may help answer the why.

@JimFogle: I believe you are 100% correct. My monitor #1 (lefthand) has a larger display than monitor #2 (righthand). BIAB opens up on monitor #1, and displays the leadsheet on #2, as I want. BIAB must be taking its display information from monitor #1, and hence oversizes the memo window on monitor #2. A minor issue, as I said, but I'm happy to know the 'why' behind it.

Best,

Bob
