It did the trick, so thanks again to Noel and also Matt.

I would like to add the following.

I only entered a time signature change once.
But as I was working to save time on chord entry (there are so many repeated chords in bars) I simply copied, first bars 1-4 and then bars 1-8.

This resulted in every fourth bar having a time sig. change.
So again, I only manually entered a time sig. change once.
Clever BIAB decided to put one in every fourth bar for the entire song.

As it turns out though, this was not what was causing the problem.

After I made the change from suggestion #3, on the first regen it whipped through to 70% and then slowed down for a minute until it got to 100% for each part. That did the trick.
