I installed it in a VM (don't have an extra box to let it sit by itself).

I like that the start menu is actually functional now (not like what they did with 8.1). I've used StarDock for my Win8 box; we'll see if Win10 obviates the need for it.

I had wanted to upgrade my laptop to Win8, but it has a dual video controller (one kicks in for on-battery usage; the other for wall outlet) that HP decided to NOT support with Win8, so couldn't do it without a lot of battery drain.

I suspect I'll run into the same problem next year if I try to upgrade to Win10 when it's released, but I'll give it a try.
