Left Wales for the States, then the British Colonies, in the very early 1700's. David was a relatively common surname in Wales. Also, it is said that Welsh is the most difficult, major western language to learn. I tend to agree! The original spelling of our name was Daffyd. Just thought I'd bring that to your attention. And yes, Sir Thomas Jones is a wonderful entertainer with a powerful voice! Wishing you well ...
