The song panel – that’s the first screen you hit it BIAB – you know it.
At the moment it shows the chords, the bar numbers and the part marker and the bar number.

I have seen in other programs rectangular boxes which could function like the ‘bars’. When you hover over the corners, they show what I could call ‘tiny folded corners’, if after hovering over the ‘bar/box’ you the hover over a specific corner, this brings a pop up. There is room for four pop up menus one for each corner. As soon as the mouse is removed, all the ‘corners’ and menus disappear leaving the bar/box showing only the essential information(as set in preferences?), looking clean and tidy.
Under such a system, we could perhaps have one pop up menu that selects the chord builder type options, another that could (at least in the case of midi) offer different voicing options. Another could be suggested chord substitutions. Perhaps we could have scale choice suggestions for each chord or even better for each two bar sequence, II V I or whatever the phrase is.

If it were possible to mark different sections with different coloured backgrounds, this could give a quick guide to the structure of the song AABA or whatever its structure is. Coloring according to song structure could be one option, another could be coloring according to chord mode function. All these things can help reveal the inner workings of a song.

It’s also possible to provide both Chord symbol and Roman numerals visually in the same rectangle, at least in displays above a minimum. If not perhaps the Roman numeral could be provided in a pop up.

I wonder if (an additional)hybrid of this screen, laid out in sequencer track like fashion, showing the chords in sequence, and the notes of one track underneath, would be useful? By default the melody could be displayed, but other parts could be selected too. This could be a drop down feature.
Audio tracks could also be displayed as a drop down, provided this would be usefully provided with editing tools.

Just brainstorming…
