Rich,

I typically listen to a song from a musical perspective first... totally ignoring the lyrics until I've gotten acquainted with the feel of the song. In this case, you threw me a curve, because the music itself has a light-hearted feel that belies the gravity of the lyrics... which are absolutely wonderful, by the way. Perhaps the light-hearted music represents what once was, while the sad lyrics represent what now is. If that was your intent, many will understand... and many more won't. So be it... your music speak from the heart of the writer, not from the wants of the listeners.

Your presentation of the topic reveals a true intimacy with the situation being sung about... very difficult for anyone who hasn't experienced such to write a convincing song about it. I identify with everything you said here. I think the honesty in your voice is well supported by the emotion that is crafted into the message.

Thanks for your contributions to the forum, Rich... You are a good guy and you fit in here very well.
