So, In the last 10 years I've burned through two laptops - the first was a 'built to my spec' IBM Thinkpad z61m, when after about 3-4 years the MOBO crapped out.

So, I went the other way to replace that one - refurbed Samsung RV511 - and again, I believe I have a MOBO failure after about 3 years of use(unit powers on, HDD doesn't spin at all, no signs of life other than power light and fan. Took out the HDD and put it in an enclosure and no apparent errors there.

I will never go back to a desktop for recording use, as it's nearly impossible to build one as quiet as even an average run-of-the-mill laptop and since I do quite a bit of LDC mic recording of quiet vocals and instruments, I need the recording rig in the room to be as silent as possible.

I went to geeks.com, which for the last 10 years have been a reliable source of refurbed computers - out of business as of some time in 2013.

So, are there any of you out there with a recommendation for a reliable source of refurbed laptops? Aware of Newegg and Best Buy. Any others that do what Geeks.com used to do? Years ago I used to buy from Surplus Computers, but that place went out of the consumer market maybe 7-8 years ago.

US based, btw.
