The notes are a representation of what the artist played; they are not what caused the sound. They figured out what was played and then wrote out the notation for it, so you can see what was played.
The notation came 'after the performance'. The notation does not 'cause' the notes, it represents what you are hearing the artist play.

As far as I know, the only way to change the notes (and make it relate to what you hear) is to regenerate.
