Hi thickage, For any type of fill before bar 1 ... Go to "Opt | Preferences" and then select the "Count-in/Met" button.  Now click on the dropdown arrowhead that I've highlighted and select from the patterns/fills. From what you describe, I'd start with " 'b' pattern then fill". Drum fills before any other bar are achieved by clicking on the bar number and setting blue or green substyles.  In the above, bar 1 has been set with the 'a' substyle and bar 3 with the 'b' substyle. Because of this, a drum fill will occur in bar 2 - the bar before the substyle change. Hope this helps, Noel
