New bluegrass song using BIAB 2014 audiophile Mac version.

Time To Get My Frontier On
By Jamie Archer and Terry Edwards

Listen here: Soundcloud

Vocal - Jamie Archer
Mandolin - Terry Edwards (bridge only)
All other instruments use BIAB real tracks:
Bluegrass rhythm guitar
Resophonic guitar soloist
Fiddle soloist
Mandolin soloist
Upright bass

RealTracks imported into Logic Pro.
All plugins (EQ, compression, reverb, etc) are Universal Audio using their quad card.

Workflow:
Compose song in BIAB with guitar and bass, port to Logic Pro.
In BIAB regenerate each soloist instrument several times, render individual files, drag to Logic Pro.
In Logic Pro meticulously cut and paste each instrument waveform with hand drawn volume curves to back up the vocalist.

Thanks to the BIAB Mac team for supporting Mac and bluegrass! Hope you like the song!

- Terry

This eastern girl’s in need of some adventure
Tires singing to me on the highway
Those cool fall nights amid the timber
Dreaming ‘neath the Milky Way makes my heart sway

Time to get my frontier on
Time to get my frontier on
Idaho, Montana, and Wyoming
I hear you calling
And I’m moving on …I’m moving on

City lights fade from my rear view mirror
They morph into the silver moon and stars
I surrender to the aura and the mystery
Of a big sky, mountains, Jupiter and Mars

Time to get my frontier on
Time to get my frontier on
Idaho, Montana, and Wyoming
I hear you calling
And I’m moving on …I’m moving on

(Instrumental solo)
(repeat chorus)

Dreams come alive with every mile that I ride and I feel free
Black steel spinning spokes
Horses rumbling ‘neath me stokes
This fire in my soul

(repeat chorus and outro)

Terry and Jamie...

Man! talk about hittin' the ground running...

Cool song. Terrific vocal. Nice instrument selection. Excellent mix.

Nice opening!

A lot of folks here like to be able to see lyrics - and this song is well worth showing them off...

A great listen.

Welcome to the forum! Looking forward to hearing more...

Hi Terry
This is a really great mix, fantastic vocals, with great balance in the mix.
You've really started off on the right foot.
Well done!

Terry and Jamie,

The 1st 22 seconds of this threw my "rock" ears into confusion but as Jamie started to sing I thought WOW I am enjoying this. So I pressed replay and understood the intro a bit better.
Bluegrass was not my favourite genre but with songs like this I could easily become a convert!!

What a great song to start my day.

I look forward to more

Hi Terry and Jamie,
So this seems too be the last new song off the year smile
Having read Alyns comments I listened twice. Your song is perfectly put together, mixing must have taken days and is very well done. Jamie, your voice is wonderful.
But with all that you have this bluegrass soul, that I, as a European, could never produce.
Well done, enjoyed it very much, happy New year !

Hi Jamie and Terry.

This may be your first post here, but it's fairly obvious that you're not new to this game. Everything about this track points to years of experience in both song-writing and recording and the whole package just screams out "professional".

Like Alyn and Fred, I don't get exposed to a lot of Bluegrass this side of the Atlantic, but it doesn't mean that I can't appreciate how good this is. It's no surprise to me that my old pal Floyd likes this one and he has to be the expert on Country around the forum.

Really nice choice of RTs and a wonderful vocal by Jamie. Looking forward to hearing more of your stuff in the New Year.

Oh, and welcome to the forum!

Solid song and mix. Well sung, and I love Jamie's country wail.

Good title - an intriguing choice of language that made me want to listen and find out what the song was about. Nice inner rhymes and alliteration in the lyrics.

I especially love the lyric "surrender to the aura and the mystery".
