Mike, This was posted a couple of weeks ago. Absolutely fabulous, I truly enjoyed it. I loved how some people looked surprised, and then were actually dancers. I also enjoyed the surprise on the people who weren't involved. Gary

Beautiful! Thanks very much, Mike. Brought tears to my eyes. I've watched it several times and it still has the same reaction. This is the ultimate 'teach your child to sing' song. In any case, it is what my maiden aunt used to teach me how to sing back in '64/5 (along with ' Frere Jacques'). So, this track means a lot to me, personally. Now, if they were only to film that in Salzburg Hauptbahnhof... The choreography must have taken a lot of work, especially when they couldn't have foreseen how busy the station might be. Just two rehearsals?? I find that very hard to believe. Notice how the PA system changes from something where you can't understand it (the standard railway announcement) to the SOM sound? They must have had their own PA system and loudspeakers to be able to get that good a sound. The parts that touch me most are as follows: 1. The first girl to start dancing (by my guess I think this is the choreographer) - what guts! 2. When she is joined by a litle girl - even more guts! (Is she the choreographer's daughter?) 3. When they turn around and find equal partners to dance with - relationship and understanding 4. The full troupe scenes all dancing together - the 'Pull To Centre', the 'Mexico Wave' and the 'Curtain Call' BTW, ironically,I accidentally found myself watching ' The Sound Of Music' here in Vienna on TV late the other night at my girlfriend's flat - she preferred to go to bed! The Austrians just don't seem to 'get' this musical. Sad. It is my favourite musical of all time and always brings tears to my eyes. Thank you very much, Mike In this day and age it is great to see such mutual support. An inspiration to us all!

So what group staged this whole thing? I count about 10-15 unique camera angles involved and 100-200 rehearsed dancers. Pretty impressive for a space that would probably be occupied 24/7.

Reading the information on it Scott, it was apparently a local television or radio station who was promoting a new version of the S.O.M and was looking for a lead for the production. So, it was a 'professional' operation, and I guess they must have found the dancers...studios, etc., is my guess.
I don't know, of course, it's only conjecture, but in the end, it was impressive. I would also think that they would have staged this at a time that would have been 'off peak' so as to minimize the number of people in the station.

WieSam,
Question for you, being you are from Austria.
My wife, daughter and myself were just watching the Sound of Music just last night enjoying the second to none musical soundtrack and wonderful storyline. But, as we gazed upon those georgeous landscapes, I have to ask what ever became of those mountains Julie was singing on? All those views were absolutely breathtaking.

Hi Rick, I am a real Austrian (Sam, we love you, but you`re an old Brit, aren`t you ), and let me tell you this: The mountains are still there They have not melted away! But believe it or not, there are some mountains here OWNED by Americans. Also our (Viennese) Public Transfer is owned by US investors, we have to lease it back. Oh god, the US Borgs are assimilating us To the Video: Isn`t this kind of promotion called guerialla marketing. Usually very cheap, but effective. A very good idea. sandra

Sandra, You'd better watch out, after the Chinese Borgs are done assimilating us, then everything we own elsewhere will be theirs, too.

The problem with that is, of course, almost EVERYTHING is made in China. I know of some audio gear that isn't, but it's more than what most people here are willing to pay for, or even able to pay for.
This is why the Chinese are getting richer, and America is getting poorer.
Resistance *is* Futile, we've already lost the battle and the war, we're just waiting for the body to collapse.
No, I don't like saying that, it hurts me to my very heart, but when companies are more profit-centric and about the CEOs making their multi-million dollar bonuses versus making a good product by a local workforce for a reasonable price, then what can you expect? When you have labor unions who are all about 'employee benefits' and their own dues that they must push companies into bankruptcy just to fulfill their own agenda, it's not hard to see why the Chinese will do it to us.
Japan was there in the 60's and 70's, making high quality, inexpensive products that sent our U.S. dollar overseas, causing the greatest trade deficit in all of history. We didn't learn then, we won't learn now.
People can disagree, history will prove me correct, sadly.

LOL, too true. I can feel my eyes getting smaller (no offence to my chinese friends out there)
If everyone owns what isn`t his, then what belongs to whom?...

My cat. It all belongs to my cat, ask her, she'll tell you. It's all hers and anyone who tries to take it away from her will be the recipient of 20 sharp claws and four very sharp teeth. Gary
