I used to love marching up a street and seeing the old style 3 and 4 story buildings built around 1790 to 1890 closing in. Sometimes in smaller towns they'd have 5 or 6 blocks like that, and the sound from G bugles (sopranos, altos, mellows, baris and contras along with the drums coming back at you multiple times made even a 50 piece band sound like thunder.

As to the marching or whatever it was clearly a practice, so who knows what they were doing, but you won't find a much better band than the guards...one of my best friends was a retired guardsman, and bobby, and he was our drum major, bloody funny english accent I can still hear, "Left Wheel Lads and Looking Sharp!"....he died of pancreatic cancer 6 weeks ago.
