Hi I'm currently trying to write a BB backing track for a version of “Ticket To Ride” and am really stuck on how to get the intro chord to sound right. https://app.box.com/s/6jkz16jr40n4b7122kzh0n15rof7mu2rI know the chord – its the Jimi chord – E7#9 but the timing of the bar is odd. (Its actually the chord timing used by the Beatles in “Drive My Car” which has been added to this arrangement.) The best I can get in BB is E7#9...,^E7#9... E7#9...,^E7#9... but when I listen to the actual track its like the first 8th beat is a note of E before they play the chord and I cant get BB to do that. I hope I'm explaining this right! Any ideas on how I write that phrase. ALSO – for those Stylepicker Geniuses (Genii?) out there – I cant find a Style that has this Rock feel that you can hear – best I am doing at the moment is _ELECROK.STY but will have to sub or mute some guitars. Anyone got a better substitution? I have 2015 ULTRA PAK so have ALL the Styles All help appreciated. ian

Hi Ian I'm not sure if your requirement is to change the root note from an E to something else, or you don't want any note before the chord (the note and chord should start on the same beat)
To change the note you could use a slash to provide an alternative root note, e.g. E7sus4/B would play an E7,4 chord with a B bass note
If your issue relates to the timing, then this is probably dictated by the style.

Hi Ian,
The intro in the provided audio sample is a little hard to recreate in Band-in-a-Box, but it is possible.
The first thing you need to keep in mind is that this intro uses a syncopated eighth-note rhythm but Band-in-a-Box only allows one chord per beat (or quarter note.) This means you will have to double the tempo for this rhythm, and although the rhythm only takes up one bar of the song, you will need to allot two bars since the tempo will be doubled.
This is what you will insert in those two bars:
E7#9. E7#9.. E7#9.. E7#9. | E7#9.. E7#9.. E7#9. E7#9..
One dot equals a rest, two dots equals a shot. So entering this pattern gives you the "(rest) da da (rest) da da (rest) da" rhythm you are looking for.
Remember to double the tempo via the Bar Settings dialog at the beginning of this pattern, and set it back to normal on the bar following this pattern.
As for RealStyles, try _BRITJON.STY out for size.
Thank you, Jareth PG Music Inc.

Hi Trevor - the bass note I needed is the root note "E" so thats OK. I often use the / when needing the Bass to do a "walk up" or "walk down" a series of chords - neat feature. Thanks ian

Hi sixchannel have you tried to bring in an existing midi file (or karaoke)?
They may give you a good rendition of the chords and medley

They may give you a good rendition of the chords and medley Hi Dave existing midis dont have the kind of arrangement I was working on. Although it would have given me the chords, it would have given me the "straight" arrangement. cheers ian
