In addition to the SampleTank problem I'm having following the install/re-install of BB/RB 2015, I can't configure my sound card in BB.

Anyone run across this? Any suggestions?

Thanks.

What steps did you take to configure the sound card. Was this internally through BiaB or from Windows control panel, etc?

Their are a few users here of the Roland Quad and Octa-Capture (like MarioD?) maybe he'll jump in here and help.

While you wait, you're not also running ASIO in another app at same time?

Can't imagine BIAB not allowing ASIO driver to be called up and "configured," but never know.

has something changed in HW ASIO control panel for Roland QC box? Like my FW-410 if I muck around and change from internal sync to use my PC's sound card optical sync, when actual hook-up to PC is actually coaxial

Just to check: can you get this far in BIAB ?(see pic)

I just did some testing with the latest BiaB and my Octa-Capture. Regardless if I had MME or ASIO selected BiaB worked perfectly. Note that I use MME in BiaB so I had to test the ASIO side.

Here is a picture of my settings:

https://dl.dropboxusercontent.com/u/97281321/Audio%20settings.JPG

I use the same audio input and output drivers for both MME and ASIO.

Is this similar to what you are seeing? If not could you post a picture of what you see?

As Larry pointed out an ASIO driver is a one-horse driver. That is it will only run one thing at a time. So if you have Sonar using ASIO and open at the same time as BiaB then one will not work which means in your case Sonar would be opened first. This is why I use ASIO with Sonar and MME with BiaB.

Thanks for all of that guys and for going above and beyond....

I often have Sonar and RB open at the same time, to drag and drop audio from RB to Sonar. I've been using the MME driver for RB in that case, to avoid conflicts. I'm able to play an SEQ file in RB with MME, but if I try ASIO I get the 'Get Channels' error.

I use BiaB by itself with the ASIO driver and up until today have had no problems. Using MME in BiaB, I get erratic playback. If I try to use ASIO I get the error messages. After I 'OK' the error messages the Quad Capture application opens, oddly enough.

I just tried Sonar (I did that earlier too and it was okay), but now the Quad Capture isn't found, so I'm betting the BiaB install/re-install, SampleTank glitches have corrupted the driver. I'll re-install and see what happens.

Update: First I tried disconnecting/reconnecting the USB Quad-Capture and that was all it took. I can use ASIO in BB, RB, and Sonar once again. So, back to the original SampleTank problem now, I believe. Thanks again.

I know you are getting frustrated but I really, REALLY doubt that a BIAB install, even after 100 times, could/would mess up the ROLAND HW ASIO driver itself.

The installer installs nothing that COULD.

I suspect you need to reboot PC, open the Roland HW ASIO panel directly, WITHOUT calling up BIAB or SONAR, or any DAW, and check/reset actual ASIO control panel settings before doing anything else.

Then make sure that non-DAW programs like a Kontakt player, Sampletank standalone, any other non-PG apps can use the Roland ASIO without glitches first. Check more than one - just do it one at a time.

With all your trouble shooting maybe the ASIO settings simply got set to some bad state?

Try this experiment and see if it helps.

When you get that error message power down, wait a few minutes to clear all ram, power up then open that program again. I'm wondering if a program is not shutting down its ASIO link. I have had that happen with some other programs.

Also are your drivers, including your graphic card, up to date. Believe it or not I have read that graphic card drivers can mess up audio.

What do you have running in the background? Did you turn off your anti-virus during installation? Is the sample rate in your Roland the same as in RB and/or is Roland's sample rate compatible with RB? The more information you can give us the better we can track this problem down.

Thanks Mario. At the end of my last post I mentioned that after disconnecting and re-connecting the Quad-Capture, ASIO is working. Between plugging in and unplugging the BB USB drive and my external USB hard drive, I suspect Windows was the culprit.

T-RackS standalone is configured with the Quad-Capture ASIO and it functions fine. Same with Addictive Drums standalone.
