The Patches tab has a purpose. It shows the current track patch names, in the biggest font possible for each track. So if a track name is short, it gets a bigger font size. This is helpful if you are viewing the screen from a distance, or have bad eyesight. For example, at the recent NAMM show, we did presentations, and had a big TV displaying BiaB, and used that Patches tab a lot, so people could see the patch names.

A tab doesn't take up much space. If you don't like it, don't click on it.
