I cant see anything that this tab does that cannpt be done in the mixer tab of the mixer. Can anyone explain please?

According to the BIAB manual :
"The Patches panel shows the track names at a bigger size".

It's probably a legacy thing that has just simply been retained?

Its a wish really Noel (though I wasn't explicit)
I wish they would ditch it along with all the rest of the gunk. A spring clean is needed, a rethink. Things should have a purpose. there are many other examples

The Patches tab has a purpose. It shows the current track patch names, in the biggest font possible for each track. So if a track name is short, it gets a bigger font size. This is helpful if you are viewing the screen from a distance, or have bad eyesight. For example, at the recent NAMM show, we did presentations, and had a big TV displaying BiaB, and used that Patches tab a lot, so people could see the patch names.
A tab doesn't take up much space. If you don't like it, don't click on it.

This is your opinion and I respect it.
If the mixer were in it's own expandable window, as others have asked, this would free up space on the home GUI, and provide room to have all the mixer names in a larger font

Both of those requests are already present in the program.

Re Option 2, yes, that is absolutely correct, but it doesn't just remove the mixer, it removes everything, including objects that are hidden behind the mixer on lower resolution screens/laptops etc, and it covers the radio buttons for Audio, Thru etc. It also removes the Transport bar, something that is rather important for most users, surely? This is something that I (and presumably others) really expected would have been resolved in the 2015 release. The Mixer control obviously sits in its own parent Window with its own unique handle. Accordingly, it would be great if that window could be moved/removed or made non-modal independent of the other objects to its left side, rather than all or nothing. Respectfully, I hope you would also see the benefit in providing this flexibility. Regards Trevor

Peter - glad you liked the book. All my suggestions are just PO really, I still think that BIAB would benefit greatly from a full rethink - a PO. Yes in 64 bit  . I love the program and it's highly creative in many ways (if cranky) Z
