It's a very interesting observation that these instruments carry over into a rested bar. I had not noticed that.

Of course I read the post title, which is why I said the problem is to make a 'musical' cutoff.

PG Music must have decided that a faded bass, pad or strings is better than a clipped one when the chord says to rest those instruments. I wonder if (perhaps as an option) they could make the "rest instruments" command do a fast fade on each of those rested instruments? Would that be more 'musical' sounding and less harsh than the Mute (sending a MIDI Off) that I think you are suggesting? Just a thought.

Do you have anything unusual in this song? Are you using Sampletank or other software instrument for the strings? Are you sure BIAB is OK (Return to Factory Settings)?
