. Here is a version of "Memphis Tennesee." The groove is inspired by the demo song for the 'Palo Alto' style. https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=M1wGbcBUHio.

Nice job flatfoot, I think this may be the first of your work I have heard. I like it . . . you really have that Memphis Rock Groove thing going on here.

Wow, I love that groove. That style is perfect for that song. Reminds me of one of Elvis' songs with that Clavi groove.
Very nice job singing it as well.
I enjoyed it !! Thanks for sharing.

Thanks everyone for the generous comments.
The groove comes from starting with an upbeat style from the LA POP JAZZ group at a quick tempo. I replaced most instruments with real tracks. Kept the clav that comes with the style.
There is a 16th-note backbeat coming from a "GUITAR...CHET" realtrack played way faster than recommended. It is barely audible, yet adds a lot to the overall movement.
Thanks for listening.

Sorry about getting your name wrong, John. I don't know where I came up with "Bob."
Anyhow, the song was a much needed pick-me-up here.

It's all been said, great song, super groove and outstanding voice.
This is the first time I have heard this song sans a Chuck Berry guitar rhythm part. Super job on that!
OK, a random thought; Why does toilet paper need a commercial? Who's not buying it?

Flatfoot,
Now you've done it, I had wanted to put this song in my book for sometime now and thanks to you I have gotten my butt off center. This is a grooving tune and I am thinking would be great combined with Johnny B Good and used for a show opener or closer two song medley. I only hope I will sound nearly as good as you do with your arrangement.

Its a great opener. I heard a singer do it as an opener in a club a long time ago, and the song became my opener after that. It seems to strike an audience as unexpected, and yet familiar. Always got a good response, as long as I did not try to sound like Chuck Berry.

Right you are and although I rotate my openers from time to time, especially depending on audience demographics I really like BB King's "Let The Good Times Roll" as one of my favorites, but this new two-tune medley will certainly go into the rotation for the reasons you have stated above. I like to close with "Saints Go Marching In" coupled with "Down By The Riverside" or Look Down That Lonesome Road" with about 8 bars of just me speaking over the "background" music thanking the audience for their kindness etc., and then ripping up the final chorus.
Thanks again for posting that very solid rendition.
