Numb

Hi all,

this time I remixed a song by a remarkable young lady. It’s worthwhile to visit her site:
http://amykressmusic.com/
You find the remix contest here (with submissions of other contestants):
http://www.remixcomps.com/contest/amy-kress-remix-contest
I felt like playing the fills myself and chose a Garritan accordion.
The RTs used are:
RT464 Bass, Acoustic, Bossa Ev 140
RT470 Piano, Acoustic, Rhythm Bossa Ev 140
RT708 Guitar, Nylon-Elec, Rhythm Bossa Ev 140
RealDrums BossaBrushes
I feel very happy because Amy already gave me 17 listens on Soundcloud and shared the remix on her Facebook page.
I hope you enjoy it, too.

Guenter,

This ...
is...
AWESOME!!!

I love the fact that you played the accordion! It's PERFECT in this application... different than the usual cliches, and so continental!

It's interesting to note how a melody can be changed so dramatically by a change in the backing song... I like both versions, but I am personally attracted more to yours. Maybe the jazzier accompaniment speaks to me more as a baby boomer than the club beat of Amy's original song (a style I like quite a bit, but with which I do not personally identify)

It was very classy of Amy to add her favorable comment to your song! It makes me like her even more! My only cringe-worthy moment in her original video is at the :40 marker when she took BOTH HANDS off the steering wheel! (I wonder how many people do that as they sing along with the radio!!)

The contest specifically said not to post remixes until the contest ends... I guess you would have told us if you had won... (bummer! I think you should have won!) But at least she was very diligent to offer praise for your work that goes WAYYyy above a superficial gesture... especially when I'd imagine that MOST of these people don't bother to offer feedback at all.

Thanks for introducing us to yet another amazing new talent! I like her!

PS: Its interesting the way her original version starts after your remix ends. They flow together so logically that I had to go back & make sure your version wasn't still playing

AWESOME!! I actually don't like her musical backing in the versus where yours is perfect!! What an accomplishment to get such praise from the original artist. Killer job!! Take care. Greg

Guenter, what a sensational number. Bright, vibrant, beautifully sung, outstanding mix.

Sensational lyrics.

Amy's singing style is really superb. The build works so well.

This is an award winner!

in case you missed that, I'd hate for you to disqualify your entry because of posting it here before the contest ends... especially when she has expressed such a strong positive response to your submission already

Also since your submission is head and shoulders above all of the other submissions combined, and practically the only way you could possibly lose is to get disqualified...

Hi Pat,

"Remix cannot be uploaded anywhere other than SoundCloud until the contest has closed."

I've only uploaded it on SoundCloud. What I'm posting here
is only a link.

Thanks for your concern.
I am confident.

Guenter,

Your version is AWESOME as has been said before.
The original version is very good but yours has that extra touch, a bit more relaxed, especially with the accordian.

I do hope you win the competition.

Excellent work

Guenter,

You have GOT to win one of these soon!

As before, you transform this into something at a higher level than where it began. Listening to the original, the music gets in the way of both the lyric (it is a well written song - especially for this style) and the vocal (it is gorgeous - the girl can SING!). Your production allows both the vocal and the lyric to take center stage.

Spectacular.

Did you play an actual accordion or a keyboard with a patch?

Guenter,

I think this time you nailed it!

It is a top Mix. A high Pop level, commercial... my money is on you!
You do have real producer DNA smile
And it wouldn't surprise me if one of these artists realized it one day and ask you to produce... Would you do it??

Guenter,

I like song and I like her voice - still hard to get used to the autotune effect on someone who can obviously sing without it...but that's a style thing these days. Didn't care for that over done DJ record scratch sound effect either.

Another great job. Hope you win!

Your remix is SO much better than the original. I do not like the original at all but I love your version. I am completely speechless. I listened to a couple of the other contestants and didn't like them either. Over produced and as Josie mentioned too much autotune for someone who can actually sing.

If you don't win one of these things soon I am going to eat my hat.

it's the staccato of the percussion contrasted with her legato, held notes of the melody, I think

Very nice.... I don't know how I missed this....

Congrats of on the win...It's cool that she actually was involved in her project. I was in one several years ago with a different artist (the song's on my web site) and that one never announced the winner, to my knowledge.

Hi Guenter,

I'm sorry but I'm a bit late to this one. That didn't stop me totally enjoying it, though. This is brilliant, unleashed creativity! I am always in awe of what you manage to accomplish with these remixes.

Hi Guenter,

I really liked this. How does a Remix Contest work? Do you just get a vocal and then supply the orchestration? Very professional sounding. Leckere Sachen, Mann!

Sometimes. In most cases you get the complete
arrangement which I mostly ignore and just use the
vocals.

Congratulations on your win but based on my listen I would find it hard not to win.

Great remix.

202 New RealTracks Released with Band-in-a-Box 2026!

With Band-in-a-Box® 2026, we've released 202 incredible new RealTracks (in sets 468-488) in a variety of genres—featuring your most requested styles!

Jazz, Funk & World (Sets 468-475):
Our new jazz, funk & blues RealTracks include a groovin’ collection of RealTracks and RealDrums! These include more requested “soul jazz” RealTracks featuring artists Neil Swainson (bass), Charles Treadway (organ), Brent Mason (guitar), and Wes Little (drums). There are new “smooth jazz” styles (4), which include a RealTracks first: muted trumpet, as well as slick new smooth jazz brushes options for drums. Blues lovers will be thrilled—there are more “classic acoustic blues” styles, including guitar (5), bass (4), and drums (10) with blues master Colin Linden, featuring understated and tasty background acoustic soloing, plus brushes drums and acoustic bass. There are also new electric blues RealTracks, including electric blues with PG favorite Johnny Hiland (3) and soulful electric slide guitar from Colin Linden (4). If you love funk & gospel, there are great new options this year, including gospel organ (3) from Charles Treadway, as well as new funk, tango, and rock ’n’ roll drums (3) and bass (1). And for big, bold arrangements, we have uptempo soul horns (4) featuring a three-part hip horn section with options for a full mix or stems of each individual horn — plus an accompanying rhythm section (4) of drums, bass, guitar, and electric piano!

Rock & Pop (Sets 476–482):
Our new rock & pop RealTracks bring a powerful mix of requested favorites, fresh genres, and modern chart-inspired styles! We have more of our popular “Producer Layered Acoustic Guitars (15)” featuring Band-in-a-Box favorite Brent Mason. We’ve continued our much-requested disco styles (10), and added new Celtic guitar (5) with a more basic, accessible approach than our previous Drop-D or DADGAD offerings. There are also highly requested yacht rock styles (17), inspired by the smooth, polished soft-rock sound of the late ’70s and early ’80s — laid-back grooves, silky electric pianos, warm textures, elegant harmonic movement, and pristine production aesthetics. Fans of heavier styles will love our new glam metal (13), capturing the flashy, high-energy sound of ’80s arena-ready guitar rock. We also have a set of rootsy modern-folk rock (18), with a warm, organic sound combining contemporary folk textures and driving acoustic strumming. And we’ve added lots of new modern pop styles (16) — the kinds of sounds you’re hearing on the radio today, featuring exciting new drums, synths, and cutting-edge RealTracks arrangements.

Country, & Americana (Sets 483–488):
Our new country & Americana RealTracks deliver a rich collection of acoustic, electric, and roots-inspired styles! We have new country pop (9) with legendary guitarist Brent Mason. There is also a potpourri (14) of bouzouki, guitars, banjo, and more, perfect for adding texture and character to contemporary acoustic arrangements. We’ve added funky country guitar (5) with PG favorite Brent Mason, along with classic pedal steel styles (5) featuring steel great Doug Jernigan. There are more country songwriter styles (8) that provide intimate, rootsy foundations for storytelling and modern Americana writing. Finally, we have “background soloing” acoustic guitar (12) with Brent Mason — simpler, but still very tasty acoustic lines designed to sit beautifully behind vocals or act as a subtle standalone solo part.

Check out all the 202 new RealTracks (in sets 468-488)!

And, if you are looking for more, the 2026 49-PAK (for $49) includes an impressive collection of 20 bonus RealTracks, featuring exciting and inspiring additions to add to your RealTracks library. You'll get new country-rhythm guitar styles from PG Music favorites Johnny Hiland and Brent Mason, along with modern-pop grooves that capture today’s radio-ready sound! There are also new indie-folk styles with guitar, bass, 6-string bass used as a high-chording instrument, acoustic guitar, and banjo. Plus, dedicated "cymbal fills" RealDrums provide an added layer that work very well with low-key folky styles with other percussion.

The 2026 49-PAK is loaded with other great new add-ons as well. Learn more about the 2026 49-PAK!
