Numb Hi all, this time I remixed a song by a remarkable young lady. The RTs used are: RT464 Bass, Acoustic, Bossa Ev 140 RT470 Piano, Acoustic, Rhythm Bossa Ev 140 RT708 Guitar, Nylon-Elec, Rhythm Bossa Ev 140 RealDrums BossaBrushes I feel very happy because Amy already gave me 17 listens on Soundcloud and shared the remix on her Facebook page. I love the fact that you played the accordion! It's PERFECT in this application... different than the usual cliches, and so continental!
It's interesting to note how a melody can be changed so dramatically by a change in the backing song... I like both versions, but I am personally attracted more to yours. Maybe the jazzier accompaniment speaks to me more as a baby boomer than the club beat of Amy's original song (a style I like quite a bit, but with which I do not personally identify)
It was very classy of Amy to add her favorable comment to your song! It makes me like her even more! My only cringe-worthy moment in her original video is at the :40 marker when she took BOTH HANDS off the steering wheel! (I wonder how many people do that as they sing along with the radio!!)
The contest specifically said not to post remixes until the contest ends... I guess you would have told us if you had won... (bummer! I think you should have won!) But at least she was very diligent to offer praise for your work that goes WAYYyy above a superficial gesture... especially when I'd imagine that MOST of these people don't bother to offer feedback at all.
Thanks for introducing us to yet another amazing new talent! I like her!
PS: Its interesting the way her original version starts after your remix ends. They flow together so logically that I had to go back & make sure your version wasn't still playing

in case you missed that, I'd hate for you to disqualify your entry because of posting it here before the contest ends... especially when she has expressed such a strong positive response to your submission already Also since your submission is head and shoulders above all of the other submissions combined, and practically the only way you could possibly lose is to get disqualified...

You have GOT to win one of these soon!
As before, you transform this into something at a higher level than where it began. Listening to the original, the music gets in the way of both the lyric (it is a well written song - especially for this style) and the vocal (it is gorgeous - the girl can SING!). Your production allows both the vocal and the lyric to take center stage.
Spectacular.
Did you play an actual accordion or a keyboard with a patch?

I like song and I like her voice - still hard to get used to the autotune effect on someone who can obviously sing without it...but that's a style thing these days. Didn't care for that over done DJ record scratch sound effect either.
