WOW

A complicated piece of work but good to listen to, very good.

I throw in some early Marillion influences into the mix.
I really liked this genre in the day.

I look forward to what you produce next.

This, is, without a doubt, my favorite of all the songs I've heard from you.

Lots of "YES" influence in it. Especially with the meter you used and the harmony with layers... I hear other influences in there too but YES was the main one. That's quite a compliment to have a number of folks hearing YES in the music you post.

You can make excuses or you can make progress but not both.

The magic you are looking for is in the work you are avoiding.

Lawrence,

I'm late to the show... but I like it quite a bit. As I've said more than once, you write music that I would pay money for!

I was captured right away by the swirled panning of the synth and by the very unique drum patterns. Regarding the snare roll, there isn't enough velocity difference to keep it from sounding like a machine gun in a few cases... several were totally believable. In my experience, to make a believable snare roll the velocity has to vary a LOT.. from barely audible to 127... but in the context of this impressive project, that is small potatoes!

Your vocals! Wow! I like the layered sound, the way they fade in, and the drone effect you get with your vocals, which complements the sustained synth barrage

The metaphor of stones skipping across a lake (of time) is visually evocative and also an interesting premise

When you sing "you take yours, I'll take mine" I like the way the drums accent the syllables.

You ask what influence we hear: this reminded me quite a bit of those ANIMUSIC videos. (I'm fascinated by them!)

Very ambitious project, and you totally pulled it off! Just ear candy from start to finish.. Whereas a lot songs are hard to listen to all the way through, I don't think I could have pulled myself away from this one for any reason short of a house fire!

You da GruveRider!

Hi Lawrence

great song

to me expecially at the start, it seems a Peter Gabriel song.

Hello.

I'll get back to some of my prog stuff in time. It is a fun genre to work in. Thanks Alyn

Well it's good to hear that some of my years of listening to YES came through. If this is your favorite I presume that you listened to a fair share of Prog Rock as well. Thank you!

You da GruveRider!

Thank you very much Pat. I will revisit the mix at some point and I hope to have a decent 7/8 loop to experiment with in the song and smooth out some of the rough edges in the drums. I use to do a lot of vocal harmonizing before I discovered the American Recordings from the man in black then all I wanted to do was try to imitate that super "present" vocal sound from those recordings. I have failed to achieve what I'm after but I'm not going let that stop me.

Regarding the "skipping", I don't know if it's necessary for me to point out or if it's obvious that the musical brakes in the song are meant as a musical representation of skipping.

Powerful and spacey.
Sounds early seventies to me and yet still modern.
Love the intro.
Sorry I missed this one earlier.
Rob.

I didn't catch that on my own, but I love it now that you've made me aware of your intent! You are a very creative song writer... full of surprises!
