Subject line says it. This is for a band project and would make life much easier as far as providing charts. All suggestions are welcome.
I just joined the Yahoo BIAB file archive. Unfortunately, I can't read CSV files (aren't those for MS Excel?), so I can't preview the titles. All suggestions are welcome.

Never seen a breakdown by genre other than "jazz fake books". Mostly you find alphabetical and then just have to dig.

Yes, indeedy. There are two links for Pop & Rock that I may just have to download blind. I've done that before... the files are small and download quickly. On the other point, CSV files work with a number of applications, not just Excel... usually any spreadsheet and some databases. If you don't have Excel, you might consider OpenOffice. It's a FREE (woohoo!) alternative to MS Office, and it can open and save in all the Office file formats. http://download.cnet.com/Apache-OpenOffice/3000-18483_4-10263109.html

You might just rename the .csv to .txt and open it with any text editor. *) CSV stands for comma separated variable. So the typical format is something like:
text,number,number,text,"bla, bla, and more bla",text...
The text within " " is parsed as a unit, so commas aren't regarded.
But usually any software for spreadsheet, text, and data base may read those files.
*) You don't have to rename it, in your text editor's open-a-file-menu you may specify "all files" (or something similar) to be shown and then just select and open that csv-file.
Some text editors have table capabilities and are able to import csv-files into a table.

I can't remember the name of the guy that did it, but it seems at one time there was a set of BIAB files available on the web for 60's, 70's, 80's, and Canadian songs (in SGU format). I'll look when I get home from work this evening and let you know.

Being somewhat slow, it only just occurred to me that good-quality MIDI files would work, too. Thanks the effort you guys are putting into this.

Yes, midi files have worked out well for me. Just Google <song> midi. Like biab files some are good, some are crap but they can sure help. Another thing I've done is google the <song name> chords. It's really easy to start a song from scratch in Biab and just enter the chords from a website. Don't get sidetracked with picking the exact style, messing with the RT's or any of that. You just need a chord sheet and I've gotten pretty fast with it. I can get a decent chart from scratch in like 5 minutes or so.
