Dan, you have a misspelling in your post that makes it quite funny.
Kickstarter is great. What a perfect way to find out if you really do have willing to pay fans. I think it's a great mechanism to forward the arts without corporations being involved. As with any business model, there are only a few that are making good money, but there are also many that are funding art projects that would have had to be self-front-loaded and therefore would not happen without something like kickstarter.
